Thanksgiving

I have such an exciting week ahead, the release of my cookbook is Tuesday November 1st (have you seen the sneak peek and your chance to win a free copy?).  Stay tuned, lots of details to come.

Monday is Halloween and the boys are beyond excited to go trick or treating.  I am making Witchy fingers to pass out and snack on.  We go trick or treating early, then come home and have family and friends over, and pass out candy to our trick or treaters.  It’s always fun.

I have a yummy slightly lighter menu planned this week, with all the candy eating that will occur lighter meals will taste really good.

Thanksgiving

I am loving this cooler weather.  I think it was in the 60’s this morning and it felt gloriousI love opening the windows in the house and enjoying some fresh air.  This week I am trying some new to me recipes I’ve found either on Facebook or Pinterest.  Are you pinning yet?  Need an invite, just send me your email address.

I am a busy bee working on the e-cookbook and I counted yesterday and I have made 38 recipes in the past month! Not including our regular meals.  Recipe testing can be exhausting!  Totally worth it, but exhausting.  One awesome thing, though, is my freezer is getting loaded up with meals.  I do love that!

What are you cooking this week?

Thanksgiving

I found some great new recipes on Pinterest this week.  So I am linking them below, to see the recipes, just double click on the photo or the source code below the pictures.

Pumpkins are in!  The boys can’t wait to carve the pumpkins and plant the seeds, funny guys.  They keep saying they want to plant the seeds, because we planted some seeds in the garden last week.  Little late to be planting pumpkins, but who am I to argue with the guys.  Plus I love that they love gardening.  They even “helped” DT till the garden yesterday.  We have yet to plant our fall garden, due to the heat, but hopefully it is behind us now, come on cool weather so we can plant!!!

Do you Pinterest?

That’s it, I can’t wait any longer to make something pumpkin, so to kick off the addiction craving I am making my favorite muffins, pumpkin yumkins.

The boys start their first day of prek-3 this week, and they are so very excited and I am a little emotional about it.  They will go 2 mornings a week, I know it’s not a big deal, but it is for me.  They are growing up.  I always tell them they are my babies and hug and squeeze them, and Little W will quickly say, “No Mom we are big boys, look how big my bones are!”, and I tell Little H stop growing so you can be little forever, and he says “No, I want to drive a big truck and tractor!”  Oh lord-y, watch out!  I just wish I had a tape recorder with me at all times to tape the cute things they say.

Be sure to enter in the Crockpot giveaway, today is the last day, and share on your facebook wall for a extra entry!

I’ve gotten a great response on the Meet the Newlyweds: Where are they now series.  I am kicking it off this week with DT and I, the very first interviewed couple.  Now I just have to think of some clever questions to ask myself. 🙂

This week I am trying a few of my Pinned Recipes to try (are you on Pinterest?).  If you haven’t heard of Pinterest, it’s a really easy way to collect online items of interest into a easy to see board(s).  If you want an invite just ask and leave me your email address and I will send you one.

School is starting today for most of our area schools and I can feel the excitement in the air.  My two don’t start till mid September (prek-3) which seems like forever from now.

My grandmother’s birthday is this week and we are celebrating, and I am making the infamous Almond Joy Cake, it’s so ooey and gooey.  I can taste it now, yum.

I am trying a couple new recipes this week, simple mini taco bowls and fried okra fritters.  In this heat the okra has been growing magnificently, so we always have plenty, the tomatoes on the other hand have completely stopped, well except for the yellow pear tomatoes, those just keep going and going.  Easily becoming my favorite, especially since that plant was a volunteer from the year before.
