What more can I say, have you been watching!  I have but sporadically.  My favorite events are gymnastics, swimming, diving, track, and the list goes on.

I just think how amazing these athletes are, I am so impressed.  The hard work and dedication it takes to be this good at each event just amazes me.  And I think Thank God for the Olympics, its such a wonderful event and experience for the entire world.

One thing I have noticed that rather perturbs me is that the news/media will have the winners on before its been televised here in the states.  For instance when I checked my email one day this week I knew Shawn Johnson was going to win because I saw a  picture of her on Yahoo news, ugh it was so frustrating to me!!  I didn’t have to read the article I knew she won gold, ugh! I understand time delays and different time zones, but maybe don’t post an article it till everyone has seen it televised.

I also have to say I have jumped on the Michael Phelps bandwagon, what can I say he’s just so likable.  And how can I not like someone who consumes 14,000 calories a day!  How fun/hard would it be to cook for him?

What about BOLT from Jamaica, how amazing is he and his Last name is Bolt how fitting!  I always think its cool when peoples last names really describe either their occupation, or lifestyle.  For instance my aerobics instructors name is Ms. Fitt, or my orthopedic surgeon name is Dr. Orth.

On to diving these little tiny Chinese girls, OH My they are so good, and hardly any splash at all.  Oh can a big ole American compete with that??????? Now big I mean they probably only weight 115 soaking wet, but compared to 70lbs that’s a lot.  These girls are so tiny and good!

I love the hand standing starts, so last night being daring I thought hmm let me see if I can do a hand stand, umm no.  Not even close, boo.  Luckily DT wasn’t home and didn’t see how dumb I surely looked!

Whats your favorite event or Olympian?

  1. I love all of the side-stories, like Natalie du Toit, the marathon swimmer from South Africa who is the only woman amputee to ever qualify for the Olympics…and Matt and Katy Emmons–she won; he didn’t.

It’s the best free two weeks of entertainment around.

  2. I’ve loved the Olympics as well. I’m a very competitive person and love competition. I don’t know why but I do. And like you, I knew Shawn Johnson won the gold before I watched it. Not cool. Gymnastics is one of my faves and of course swimming. Phelps is phenomonal. Phenomonal Phelps. Phitting if I do say so myself 🙂 The past couple of nights though I’ve enjoyed watching volleyball. I think b/c I’ve played volleyball before (not competively, just for fun). Both the men and women finals were exciting. Very close. I love when it’s a close race. I’m sad to see it all ending.
