It’s pumpkin time here at Newlyweds blog and I had to try this yummy recipe I’ve seen floating around the Internets.  And since my closest Starbucks is at least 45 minute drive away, I figure, what the hey, I’ll make it at home.  So glad I did, because not only was it a pick me up in the middle of the day, it was super good.  My Mom even liked it and she’s not what I would call a pumpkin fanatic like some people I know, ahem.

Let me show you just how simple this is.

Ingredients: 2 cups milk, 3 T canned pumpkin, 2 T sugar, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice, 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso

In a medium sized sauce pan over medium heat, pour in the milk

pumpkin

and sugar

stir until incorporated.

and heat until the milk is steaming.

Them remove from the heat, and add the pumpkin pie spice,

and vanilla.

Whisk really good, until frothy.

Then pour about half way into a large mug.

and top with strong coffee.

Add some whipped cream on top, and enjoy!

Makes 1-2 servings

Ingredients:
2 cups milk
3 T canned pumpkin
2 T sugar or sugar substitute – adjust to taste
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso

Directions:
In a saucepan stir together milk, pumpkin and sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until steaming.   Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and pumpkin pie spice, and just whip the mixture really well with a wire whisk, till frothy.

Pour into a large mug or two mugs if you decide to share. Add the coffee or espresso on top.

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, or cinnamon on top.

  1. YUM! i keep meaning to try this as ive seen it floating around as well…i got one at sb one day and it was AWFUL! I think the guy messed it up b/c i know people RAVE about them. it was the worst $5 i ever spent and forced myself to finish it!

I couldnt sleep and I was craving sugar and coffee (after I had been looking around for random recipes) So I found this…when I lived in Texas my Mamau used to make yummy little drinks like this so I had to try it. It was really good! I even made a cup for my mom and had her try it. Given I woke her up the compliments were given in a quiet, slightly slurred mumble but I understand the mmm’s and such… Anyways.
