Yesterday the boys, Mom and I started a new tradition, we carved pumpkins.  Can you believe I have lived for 28 years never to have carved a pumpkin?

Well not anymore.

We started off cutting the tops off and scraping seeds, Little H was was handy with his small spoon and tiny pumpkin.

*notice the tongue, he’s concentrating.

While Little W drove straight into the big pumpkin.

When I asked him what he was doing, he said “Working”.  DT would be so proud.

At least he was enjoying his job.

Little H and I worked on the small pumpkin.

But he really loved scrapping the pan full of seeds and guts.

Mom and I did all the carving.  I did this silly face (the boys broke off one of the eyes), and the small pumpkin.

*be nice this is my first time ever, lol!

Mom did this scary, skull, or as the boys call Bones!

And a big Jack-O’-Lantern face.

Here’s my silly face lit up.

Now that we are having some cooler weather I hope they hold up until Halloween!

Is pumpkin carving a tradition in your family?

This week I am hosting a Pumpkin link-up that has tons of pumpkin recipes and posts, stop by and link up!

  1. My husband and I have carved pumpkins in the past years – but this year we started a new tradition. We took a day and went to the pumpkin patch! Hubs had never ‘picked his own pumpkin.’ We decided that in the future we will load up the kids, pack a lunch & cider, go to the pumpkin patch, go thru the corn maze, picnic, then go home watch Charlie Brown’s Halloween and everyone carve pumpkins! I can’t wait!!

  2. I usually carve a pumpkin but I didn’t end up getting one this year. I guess there is still time to pick one up tomorrow though, so we’ll see!

I’m glad that you have a new tradition =D

  3. Henry is 4 now, and he loved carving the pumpkin this year. He requested a rather intricate pattern of a bat on one of them, so I gave it a whirl. And it didn’t turn out half bad! But really? He just wanted to get the goop out and mess around with it like it was a big, slimy disaster of PlayDoh. I’ve never seen him fall in love with slimy messiness as much in his life. THAT is what made it so worth it this year….

And I absolutely died reading the previous post about the grease. They looked SO FLIPPIN’ CUTE with that grease all over! But I know how hard that must have been to get off….still, worth it for those smiles, right? Maybe? Okay, no….
