This week’s food network chef’s challenge hosted by I Blame My Mother was Michael Chiarello.  Boy was this a challenge for the life of me I couldn’t find a recipe of his that I wanted to make.  I don’t know what it was but everything I found either didn’t appeal to me and/or it was difficult to make with hard to find ingredients.

Or so I thought…..

Until I ran across Candi’s post at Family, Stamping and FOOD.  She found and made a wonderful breakfast bar recipe and I have all the ingredients and love recipes like this.  Great job Candi I can’t wait to try them out.

Then I saw SnoWhite’s post on a lovely tomato soup that even her and her hubby enjoyed both of whom aren’t fans of tomato soup.  I knew I wanted to try this immediately with a grilled cheese sandwich, oh yum!  Again I had all the ingredients and could easily use my freezer tomatoes.

So there you have it! He does have fabulous recipes, I just didn’t search hard or long enough.  But I did want to share some great recipes (and great blogs too) even if I didn’t make them.

  1. I had to really look to find something. We ended up very much enjoying the soup, and last night we made a very green soup (broccoli and spinach) that was also quite good.

  2. Me too. I wanted to try one of his yummy meals but the produce in our area is just not in season. That’s why I opted for the breakfast bars. I’m glad I read the comments because otherwise I wouldn’t have tried to make them. They turned out great!

  3. Love your site!

I love cooking, baking and talking about my twin daughters, so I will be reading along on what you are up to!

  4. Oh, tomato soup is the best! Especially on a cold, rainy day…served with warm grilled cheese sandwiches. I wish we lived closer so we could pop in for lunch! Could you imagine the mess our kids would make? Hahahaha!
