How did you meet?
Frog Prince and I met our very first week in graduate school.  The graduate chapter of Intervarsity on our campus was having a photo scavenger hunt, and we “somehow” ended up in the same group.  Two hours of running across campus (and, our campus is huge, mind you) while exchanging stories about faith, and our interests in teaching was enough to spark a friendship.
When did you know he was the one?
This is actually a funny story.  Before I even met Frog Prince at the scavenger hunt, I saw him walking on campus.  Our campus has 50,000 people… and when I saw him walking, God pointed him out to me.  I completely dismissed that thought and had a good laugh.  I couldn’t believe it when he was at the scavenger hunt too….   But, I really knew he was the one for me after he took me to his hometown and I got to see where he grew up and meet his family and friends.  My family knew he was “the one” when he sat through 24+ hours of the state championship synchronized swimming meet in a 2 day time frame!
What is one of your favorite things to do together?
The two of us have always enjoyed cooking together.  We have one, very tiny kitchen now in our cozy little apartment home, but we still love cooking and sharing a meal together.  We also love walking together — we’re both so hyperactive it’s one way we can have a great conversation!  We often take hikes at local parks and nature centers, we enjoy watching LOST, and we love playing games!  Strategy games, card games, you name ’em, we love ’em.

What is something new you learned about your spouse after you were married?
Frog Prince does NOT use an alarm clock.  No matter what time he has to get up, he’s up.  He says “I just tell my body what time I need to get up, and I can wake up.”  That amazes me.

What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life?
While we eat dinner together every night and our weekends are focused on spending time together, we also make sure to spend a few minutes together every morning before running out the door to school and work.  We also study the Word of God together and pray with and for one another during the week; this spiritual connection and focus on Christ’s vision for our lives helps us move closer to one another and to God.
What is your best piece of marriage advice?
I don’t feel like I’ve been married long enough to give advice!  For us, we’ve learned that marriage is about being selfless and serving the other person.  Soon after getting married, we both realized how innately selfish we really are… but being married has taught us to love and serve others.  My marriage tip is not new, it’s from Scripture, but it’s a good one: ladies, show your husband love through respecting and uplifting him, and guys, show your wives love in the way she receives it best.
What is your favorite quirk about your husband?
I love that my husband cannot stand still.  Ever.  Period.  No exceptions.  When eating breakfast, he’s up and moving around, often carrying his bowl of cereal (which he eats with no milk — that’s another quirk I love) right along with him.  When he talks on the phone, he must walk a mile through our apartment.  When he needs a break from working, he gets up and paces around.  He’s always on the move… and he’s really funny with all his energy too 🙂

What is something special you do just for your husband?
I love leaving unexpected things for my husband… notes in his lunchbox, in his car, emails and making his favorite cherry-filled treats.  But, I think the thing he loves the most is getting his back rubbed, every night 🙂  It’s something easy I can do, and he loves it.
Tell us something about yourself.
We have a really funny first kiss story.  Trust me, you’ll laugh.  You can find it in “Our Story” on our blog.

  1. ” When I write or share something about one of my friends in a posting, I always make sure I send them a copy of it, so they know what was said about them. Today I included information about you and your blog site in my posting, so I thought I should let you know about it as well.”

The above paragraph is the first paragraph in an email I sent out today, to all of the owners of blogs whom host “theme days”, that I could find email addresses for. {But I could not find an email address on your blog.} I have decided that from now on the only ones I will do such for, are any new “theme day(s)” hosts I find, whom I can not find an email address for. Contacting so-o many of you this way just takes w-a-y to much time!!! If you wish to again be notified that I am including you in a list, then PLEASE send me your email address via – pinkbunnies (at) sbcglobal (dot) com. I hereby promise I will NOT be giving it out. Also, please put something about “theme days” in the subject line. Thanks!!

The rest of the email is what I posted today on our blog. Go to: http://www.xanga.com/thehousethatlovebuilt to read it for yourself.

    Hopefully, it will then clarify all of this for you ;-}
