How did you meet?

We met the first week of our Junior year at the University of Southern California. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit this, but we met at the Campus Bar. We were both “Greek” (Fraternity/Sorority) and this bar is THE place for Greeks to hang out. We got introduced by a mutual friend, at the end of the night he asked for my phone number, and the rest is history!

When did you know he was the one?

After we graduated college our bond really strengthened during that transitional time.  We started going to church together – serving together and doing small group together. I knew then we had a solid foundation for a life together.

What is one of your favorite things to do together?

I love to take walks together. We walk by our beach side condo looking out on the pacific ocean and people watching. It’s such a fun and close time together.

What is something new you learned about your spouse after you were married?

I learned that he HATES the snooze bar. I like to hit it 2 or 3 times in the morning. He’s always telling me “just get up! Stop prolonging it”

What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life?

One that keeps us connected is that we do the “5 As” together before bed a few times a week – Affirm, Apologize, Affection, Ask, Amen. Basically say something nice, apologize for anything, give affection, ask what you can do for the other person, and then pray.

What is your best piece of marriage advice?

Don’t hold a grudge and don’t bring up old events in new arguments.

What is your favorite quirk about your husband?

He gets really excited about small stuff. Whether it’s a good bottle of wine we recently picked up, or the sauce on a dish I made, or the ambiance in a restaurant, or discovering a new board game. You never know what he’s going to just love, but it makes him really fun to be around.

What is something special you do just for your husband?

I do his laundry most of the time. I actually like to do laundry! I find it soothing and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. And I know he appreciates it, so it works out!

Tell us something about yourself.

I’m Southern California girl to my core – I grew up in San Diego and now we live at the beach in Los Angeles. I work for a large management consulting firm, so you’ll usually find me in airports and hotels with my laptop and roller bag in tow. I love organizing, being in or near water, the color turquoise, our sweet kitten, and College Football, especially The University of Southern California. Go Trojans! My latest hobby is wine tasting, wine collecting, and of course wine drinking.
