How did you meet? Mathis and I are high school sweethearts.  We met in our church’s youth group and at school.  I actually dated his best friend right before him, but I was taken with Mathis right from the beginning. 🙂

When did you know he was the one? I remember knowing he was the one after we had graduated high school and moved away to separate colleges.  There was no one else I wanted more.  I watched him continue to mature into an awesome man of God, and I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life together with him.

What is one of your favorite things to do together? We are such homebodies.  There’s nothing we love more than relaxing at home together with our two dogs. 🙂  We love to pick up dinner and bring home a good movie to watch on the couch.

What is something new you learned about your spouse after you were married? Yes.  He has already cared for me in more ways than I ever had imagined.

What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? We talk several times a day.  I think this is a habit we formed during our years of a long-distance relationship in college.  I think that when we are able to communicate with one another we both immediately calm down and get through any difficult situations.

What is your best piece of marriage advice? God first, spouse second and self last.  And have at least one date night a week, and one getaway weekend/vacation a year!

What is your favorite quirk about your husband? Mathis has to sleep with a fan on at night, and he has quickly converted me to needing a fan on as well.

What is something special you do just for your husband? Lots of little things… text messages throughout the day, Sonic drinks in the afternoon, cleaning up the house or planning a special date.  These are just a few of the things we both do to serve one another in love!

Tell us something about yourself. Our biggest news right now is that we’re both starting school in August and moving from Texas to Virginia.  Mathis is starting his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech (Marriage & Family Therapy) and I’ll be getting my Master’s from Radford University (School Psychology).  We are excited about this new adventure, and we know that they’ll be plenty to blog about! 🙂
