Let’s meet Jorge and Jessica.  Jessica has a delicious website called The Novice Chef, which by the look of it is anything but novice, she is amazing at both photography and her delicious food.  Just check out a few recipes I spotted and can’t wait to try, Tamale Casserole, Pumpkin Ice Cream, and this Mexican Steak Omelet my mouth is watering.  Her hubby Jorge also blogs at SQL Update, which if you speak SQL this is your kind of site.  How about we learn more about the couple?

How did you meet? Jorge came into the pharmacy I worked at to fill a prescription and when he came back to pick it up, he asked me out!

When did you know he was the one? Our first night! We had one of those magical first nights! Neither of us are very overly romantic people, but something about our first date was truly Nicholas Sparks worthy. We had an amazing dinner, followed by him driving me around Tampa to show me the sites (since I was new to the area) and lastly a moonlit walk on the beach. Throughout the entire night I kept thinking, wow this feels so right.

What is one of your favorite things to do together? We are big game people! We love playing games together and with friends. We play board games as well as games on our Wii. It is fun and gets us to interact together instead of just watching TV or being lazy!

What is something new you learned about your husband after you were married? How much he truly cares about me and my well being, sometimes even more then his. Last June I was laid off from my job, and instead of hunting for another one, Jorge told me to take the time off and go back to school full time to finish my degree. We took a large pay cut and had to sacrifice some, but he said he would rather do that and for me to get to fulfill my dream then to live extravagantly.

What do you do to stay connected during everyday stresses of life? Throughout the day we chat on MSN Messenger which is really nice to keep us keyed into each other throughout the day. We also eat dinner together every night and see how each other are doing. In other words, communication! 🙂

What is your best piece of marriage advice? Let the small things go. Fight for the big things that truly matter…but things like he doesn’t put a new roll of toilet paper on the roll is just not worth the fight!

What is your favorite quirk about your husband? How silly he is! The man can be make me laugh like no one else.

What is something special you do just for your husband? Shave my legs! 🙂 haha! Just kidding! I make him rice for dinner sometimes, despite the fact that I really hate it! And I go to his geeky events sometimes to support him even though I usually have no idea what is going on.

Tell us something about yourself. I like to have fun with life. You only get to do it once, so might as well have a blast doing it!

  1. Their wedding picture is gorgeous! They sound like a really sweet couple. I loved that he suggested she take time off to go back to school when she lost her job…now that’s a supportive man right there!
