During this Lenten season I am taking time to reflect on my life and how I can be closer to God.  I am not giving up something like my old usual (sweets well technically I still am since I gave those up Jan 1st) instead I am taking on something.  My Lenten goal is to help one person everyday through Jesus.

For instance I might bring lunch to my elderly neighbors, or call a friend I’ve lost touch with, or even help a stranger when in need. It may be a little thing but if I can help or am move actively helping someone I think this is more powerful during Lent than just giving up sweets. These are all things I plan to do each day.

Of course I might will fail at times, but I will try to be a good steward through Jesus eyes and hopefully this will become a routine part of my day so that I can continue it through out the year.

Amy at The Finer Things in Life wrote a wonderful Lenten Season post which includes her vision of the Lenten season as a time for reflection.

If you curious about exactly what the Lenten Season is Hallee @ Hallee the Homemaker wrote a wonderful definition.

As part of Lent we are asked to fast from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and every Friday during lent.

  1. I think what you are doing for Lent this year is great! I actually have been pondering what to do myself. I know I’m a little behind, but I really want to do something that I’m going to stick with and that is going to mean something.
Thanks for the recipes! I’m always looking for something different to make during lent. We often get tired of the same old stuff during Lenton season.

I found your blog at Manic Mother. Great blog! Feel free to stop by and visit mine if you would like http://raisingmy4sons.com

  2. Nice to help others and a good thing to do during Lent. Since I enjoy baking so much and do not want to eat the sweets I bake for the fire house on my corner. Now I am not sure they like to eat sweets either? They have to stay in shape but never refuse my offerings. We always eat mac n cheese on Fridays during lent but each week I try out a new mac n cheese recipe which puts a different spin on the same old dish. I wish I could say my husband ate fish but only shrimp so that limits the amount of fish I cook in my kitchen.

  3. They all look delicious! My family’s favorite meal on Friday’s during lent is my veggie pizza. I made it last Friday. Thanks for sharing your recipes! I’m always looking for more ideas on what to cook on Fridays during lent.

  4. I don’t observe Lent, but I wanted to suggest fish tacos for those that do! Leave out the herbs and zucchini and instead use cumin and lime juice. Follow the rest of your directions and add fresh avocado slices to your fish taco and you’re good to go. If you try it, let me know!
