It has been 1 month since I have implemented these health and fitness goals and some very nice things have happened.

  • I have energy, the thing I thought I had lost forever, I feel good!
  • I look forward to my walks and exercise and I always feel refreshed afterward.
  • I have lost 3 lbs!  Yea!
  • My clothes fit better, still tight but better

I have had a few pitfalls, like eating sweets more than once a week, ahem (cupcakes) and I have only being doing the weights workouts 2 per week instead of my 3 time goal.  So I need to kick it up a notch and be a little more strict about my diet, and do the hand weights 3 times per week.

I have been proud of my self though, my secret pal at work gave me a huge basket full of goodies, and I didn’t eat any, I gave them all to DT.  I also got my girl scout cookies this week and I’ve only been tempted once to eat some, this is great compared to before I would eat some each day.  Though this weekend is Valentines day and I am cooking DT and I a special dessert after that I will continue with the stricter routine.

1. Drink 3 Large glasses of water at work. (at work I tend to only drink coffee)

2.Walk 3 days a week  (during my lunch hour 20 minutes minimum.)

3. Do not eat past 7 pm. (this works out well because the boys like to eat right at 6pm, and past that is when I tend to eat sweets)

4. Only have 1 sweet per week. (that way I don’t feel deprived and I enjoy it more) I had one cookie on Wednesday!

5. Choose fruits and veggies over junk food.

6. Work out with hand weights 3 times a week 20 minutes minimum. (I can do this while I watch tv in the evenings)

7. Eat smaller portions of food, and only fast food 2 times a month.  (this will mean taking my lunch to work  and using a smaller plate at home)

8. Plan meals so that lack of planning doesn’t cause me to overeat.

9. Play more with the boys. (like taking a walk, going to swing, etc)

10. Walk more (park farther away at work, grocery store, etc.)

How are you doing?  What are your successes, motivations, goals for health and fitness?

  1. Those are really great suggestions. But I can’t NOT eat past 7. Seven? Wow. That’s when I eat my brownies. Or cookies. Or whatever else has sugar in it. lol

but I like the other suggestions. those are great

  3. Good for you! You have a lot of goals your working on, and looks like you’re keeping up on most of them. I usually try to concentrate on one goal at a time.

    Right now I love yoga!

  4. It looks like you’re setting some great goals for yourself. I wouldn’t worry too much about the cupcakes, though. They are rather delicious, and sweets in moderation are probably not going to destroy your progress. It looks like you’re doing a great job keeping your goals anyway, so congratulations!

As for my health goals: take a daily walk and a weekly hike. That’s it. We’re pretty good about the nutrition side of things, and we’re really good at the daily walk.

It’s been a few months since the last hike, though. Sigh.

  5. Wow, sounds like you’re doing really well!! Losing 3 lbs in a week is a great accomplishment!! I also have found that not eating/snacking after dinner really helps me lose weight. My other trick is anytime I feel like eating but I’m not really hungry (more out of boredom or stress), I brush my teeth. It makes me not want to eat when my teeth feel clean.

    Keep up the great work!

  6. I love all of your goals! I am doing similar things and should list them all out for myself. Only one sweet treat a week though? I don’t think I could handle that though. ha! You rock!!
