Well today is a very sad day for me, remember when I said I was thankful that Whitey my Fat Cat was better, well it turns out she wasn’t and instead had liver failure and with a very heavy heart we said goodbye to her today.  I am very happy she is no longer in pain but I am missing her very much.  The house seems so very empty without her, and I keep looking for her in her favorite spots just to be reminded she is not there.

I found Cotton Kitty (her full name) when she was just weeks old she was abandoned by her mom and I grabbed her up, I had never seen such a beautiful white kitten before.  Because she was so little I had to feed her kitten milk from a syringe for nearly 1 month every few hours, she was just like a baby.  She slept with me at night and cuddled my neck and rustled my hair and purred louder than you could think such a tiny thing could do.    She eventually grew out of the neck rustling but every now and then she would get a wild hair and come cuddling, but it wasn’t as cute with a 15 lb cat with long nails.

I found her in October of 03 and she was probably about 3 weeks old so she was almost exactly 5 years old.   Whitey is a very unique cat, we use to call her Cat-Dog because she loved to play fetch with my socks.   She also loved to play and hide in boxes, laundry baskets, on top of things and in the most unusual places.  Her best friend was Sable my 10 year old calico, Sable took to Cotton right away and they loved each other, they would play and play and groom each other, sleep cuddled together, and were best of friends.  Whitey has had several names, her full name is Cotton Kitty, but we also call her Cotton, Whitey, Fatty Patty, Fat Pat, and there are probably others.  As you can tell as she grew up she also gained a bit of weight hence the fatty names. She loved to eat but only cat food, she would never eat people food not even meat.

She will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of her.

  2. What an adorable cat. I’m so sorry. We just went thru that last week with my parents dog they had for 15 years. It’s terrible. My Dad is still having a problem with it.

Thanks so much for joining my contest.

  4. I am sorry to hear about Whitey. I remember the day you brought her home. I remember how we had to stimulate her to make her pee and I remember how I was her “boyfriend”. I will never forget what your vet friend suggested we do to her to alleviate certain symptoms she was experiencing at the time. I always remembering if I couldn’t find her, to look for her in a beer box or in the laundry hamper!!!

  7. I am soo sad to hear about Whitey. We all shared some great memories with her when you brought her home to our college apartment! She was always running around and loved ya very much but just remember she was very luck to have found you back in 2003. I’m sure she lived a much happier life with you the last 5 years then she could have back where you found her!

  8. Oh, so sorry about your kitty. I lost mine a few years ago. I think she was 10 or 11 years old. It was really hard. I have a 9 year old silver point persian kitty named ‘Taz’ now. I love her dearly and don’t even want to think about anything happening to her. My heart goes out to you.
