Yesterday after the boys nap I walk into there room to find this, a wet diaper laying on the ground.

Can I guess who has removed his diaper from his buttoned one piece jumper?

Little W of course

But since they like to wake up and play in the cribs for awhile before I heard them, this is also what I found

and while I was busy taking pictures assessing the situation, Little H found the wet diaper.

and was a great helper by throwing it away for Mommy!

Leaving Little W with me to explain what happened.  When I asked him, So what did you do? This is the face he would give me.

How could I possibly be mad at that face?

So in this dilemma I have tried onesie, jumpers, and zip up sleepers seem to be the only thing that will keep a diaper from sneaky little fingers.

Anyone have any other suggestions on how to keep diapers on during nap and bed time?

  1. Those boys look so much like your husband. They are so cute! 🙂 I was looking at your photos with Gracie, and she said, “Who those boys? They are so cute! So precious!”

Grace got out of her diaper a lot when she was between twelve and eighteen months old. She could also get it off when clothed. It didn’t last forever, and she gave up on it after a while. Good luck!

  2. OMG! He looks just like DT when he makes that face. I’m laughing out loud! Kay use to do this and we would find her naked in her baby bed in the morning. Maybe he is telling you he is ready to get rid of them.

  3. Sorry, no suggestions. Hang in there girl, this to shall pass 🙂

  4. OMG so cute! My son does that too sometimes sounds like he doesn’t want to be in a wet diaper anymore – smart boy!!

  5. Maybe a diaper cover? I know they make ones that are rubber (for cloth diapers) that have elastic. He’d have to shimmy out of them and that might be harder.

I’ve also heard of the duct tape method. Seriously.

  6. I’ve dealt with this time and time again. It is what it is -and it is a sign that they will be ready to begin potty training soon. The most frustrating part of this situation for me- is all the laundry it creates- and BOY is it a PAIN IN THE TUSH to have to change crib sheets twice a day! (especially when you have twins and they’re both doing it!) If it becomes a real issue for you (though with a face as sweet as that- it might not be) then I would suggest tucking down a large beach towel (for naps) instead of going through the ordeal of giving him fresh sheets every time he dirtys them. To him, there are no ramifications- he takes his diaper off, he pees in the sheets, and Mommy cleans it up! How WONDERFUL! LOL Good luck!:-)

  7. My friend used duct tape. It’s about the best solution I know of. Otherwise, diaper covers, or things that are harder to get into. They do grow out of it.

  8. I’d be a rich woman if I could figure out how to deal with this issue! Many a mom has wondered how to stop this. We are out of diapers now (although still in pull-ups at night), but I am still curious!

    Check out my WW!

  9. I’ve got a girl that is doing the same thing! We use the diaper covers that come with the summer dress sets. Maybe you could find a cloth diaper cover that he can’t undo.

  10. DIAPER COVERS. Not only will they make it much harder for him to take off his diaper, but they’ll prevent leaks from excessive pee or diarrhea. My son wore cloth diapers with covers for the entire 2 years 8 months he was in diapers, and he NEVER got out of his diaper or had a “blowout”.

The best brand also is one of the cheapest! Dappi Pants. They’re also great to put over underwear when he’s toilet-training to help contain leaks–they won’t hold in a whole bladderful, but if he pees a little and then notices the wet feeling and runs to the bathroom, your couch/carpet/lap will stay dry!
