It happened folks, it really happened.

You might remember many many moons ago I had a dream of blue and green eggs. (I dream big, don’t I?)

Well my beautiful sweet Hadlee the Easter Eggers gifted me with my very first bluish speckled white green egg.

Isn’t it cute!

Here’s it in comparison to Pesky’s egg (left).  Hadlee is only 18 weeks old and that is fairly young to begin laying, but as she gets older her eggs will get bigger but they will always stay that beautiful color.  She is the first of my oldest chicks to start laying, so very exciting but the rest of the girls should soon start as well.  So fun to see what colors they will lay.

In other chicken news last week I got 3 new chicks from the feed store.  2 beautiful Blue Silkies and 1 Buff laced Polish.  I am happy as pie to have this cute slightly unusual chickens. check out the links to see what they will look like when they grow up

And I even hatched out 2 chicks.  As I said I would never hatch again, I did it anyways.  AND with even less success than last time.   I still can’t pinpoint my failures, but I am hanging up the hatching hat for some time.  So I will be happy with my 2 Olive eggers (a mixed breed chicken that lays olive colored eggs) that hatched.

Little Rocko as my niece Sam named her as she was hatching, has a bit of a deformed eye.  Though not the most attractive is a rather vigorous chick, but I sleeps a lot and as far as I can tell isn’t eating.

The other chick whom I haven’t named just yet, seems to be doing really well.  It’s a cute little grey with brown on it’s face and legs.

Can’t wait to see how she will feather out.  That’s all the chicken news for now.

PS: Have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!!!

I have this is in the freezer right now, can’t wait to see how it turns out!
