We’ve had chicks on and off on the “farm” since March.

Remember this?

And I continue to hatch more and more.  And lucky for me the boys still love each and every new chick that hatches.

And since the boys have so much chick experience they thought it would be nice to share the proper techniques for handling chicks.

First you select the chick of your choosing, grab it on the back and hold a a slight angle so the chick squirms and squawks, that’s how you know your holding them right.

This is perfect form.

Then inspect the chick closely, making sure they have all 4 four toes and they are properly attached.

Then if your really comfy with the chick, have it balance on your hand.

and give it a big smooch for being such a sweet little chickie.

A little baby talk and back stroking doesn’t hurt either.

It’s important to give each chick equal time and handling.

and when your done, gently place them back in the box and send them on their merry way back to the warm, safe brooder.

Hope you enjoyed this educational tutorial.

*don’t worry, no chicks were harmed in the making of this*

  1. Soooo stinkin cute the twins are! The way they handle the chicks. Awesome. Mine would be afraid 🙂

Are they fully potty trained now?! Looks great with no diaper butt. I wish I would finally dare to try it again. I am afraid that I am not patient enough but since they finally start talking more I will have to give it a try soon! I am who wants to be in diapers when they´re 3? 😉
