The 20th week of our winter garden, and we are almost ready to say good bye, next weekend we will pull what’s left of the garden like the cabbage that never quite made it and the carrots and turnips. DT will till the garden, let it sit a few days, then we will lay chicken manure fertilizer. And in another week or 2 we will begin planting our summer garden.
Already I know! It just snuck up on me this year.
As you can see DT has tilled most of the garden already.
This is a small cabbage that we still have, it won’t be big but hopefully it will be good eats.
Our broccoli keeps growing and growing, it’s so nice to have fresh broccoli.
and look we finally have a few Brussels sprouts!!! I am so excited! After only 20 weeks, ha ha ha.
And remember last week I said we had some new arrivals? Well check out their new digs. Right in our house in the sun room. They have to stay under a heat lamp until they are old enough to maintain their own body heat, about 6 weeks old. Then after that they will be in the coop with the rest of the chickens.

They are so cute, and scared to death of us, poor little things. These pictures were taken just a few days ago and they have already grown so much!
The other night after I put the boys to sleep I heard lots and lots of cheeping and peeping coming from their pen so I went to investigate. Only to find that they had found a small little leaf and had a fun game of keep away going on. In this picture the chic has the leaf.
Then you will notice the duckling has it now. They played and played and played like that over the leaf for a good 10 minutes. I laughed so hard. Who knew little chicks and ducks would play so well together. I should have gotten out my video camera, ugh…..
Here’s Chloe trying to reach them. But don’t worry she can’t, we have it secured well.
I am happy that the chicks and ducklings grow so fast because I am sure not loving the smell in my house, yuck!

Wow!! I love your garden! I hav got more seeds to sow this weekend. I can’t wait!!!!
Our strawberry and onion patch is doing fantastic. I saw flowers on the strawberries so they should start pretty soon. Our lettuce and carrot patch is also doing wonderful. Lots of lettuce and carrots. This weekend I will be planting the first 6 tomatos that have been growing from seed since early January. I have 30+ tomatoes and 30+ peppers waiting in the wings as well. It’s going to be a good year! Now if it can remain under 100 for a little while then things will be awesome!

I can’t believe you are already getting ready for the summer garden. the chickies and ducklings are so cute, but I agree they do smell bad.
