My life can be so busy between, work, the boys, the house, cooking, couponing, DT, (dare I say it) this blog, that I rarely think to take care of myself.  And it shows.  I have gained weight since having the babies and I am only to blame.  How does that happen you ask.  Well the day I delivered the boys I weighed a whopping 198lbs,  60lbs more then when I found out I was pregnant.  With in 2 weeks of birthing the twins I weighed 150lbs only 10 over my starting weight.  I dropped the next 10lbs within a few weeks and kept it off for about 5 months.  But then life got easier somewhat, I wasn’t breastfeeding as much anymore and I was still eating like a pig and slowly but surely about 15lbs have come back to reside on my stomach, hips and thighs.   I miss my size 6’s and I am pouring out of my 8’s but I REFUSE to buy a bigger size, I just refuse.  To me buying a bigger size is admitting defeat, and I am not easily defeated.

So I have thought of simple easy ways to incorporate better eating habits and exercise into my busy schedule.  I will keep a log of how I am doing, where my successes and pitfalls are and all the fun stuff you probably ever or never wanted to know!

10 simple health & fitness  goals for myself.

1. Drink 3 Large glasses of water at work. (at work I tend to only drink coffee)

2.Walk 3 days a week  (during my lunch hour 20 minutes minimum.)

3. Do not eat past 7 pm. (this works out well because the boys like to eat right at 6pm, and past that is when I tend to eat sweets)

4. Only have 1 sweet per week. (that way I don’t feel deprived and I enjoy it more)

5. Choose fruits and veggies over junk food.

6. Work out with hand weights 3 times a week 20 minutes minimum. (I can do this while I watch tv in the evenings)

7. Eat smaller portions of food, and only fast food 2 times a month.  (this will mean taking my lunch to work  and using a smaller plate at home)

8. Plan meals so that lack of planning doesn’t cause me to overeat.

9. Play more with the boys. (like taking a walk, going to swing, etc)

10. Walk more (park farther away at work, grocery store, etc.)

If anyone is interested in joining me, link up to this post with your goals and tips.  If you don’t have a blog leave me a comment.

We can do this together and motivate one another.  I really do need the motivation, so if somebody I know in real life or online is reading this and sees me slacking off, call me on it, I might hate you at that moment but I will be thanking you when I am fitting in my size 6’s again!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Oh, this is so me! I lost all of my baby weight, but it has crept back. I now weigh 11 pounds more than I did before I got pregnant with Evie – and I needed to lose a little weight even then! Argh! I probably won’t participate in the weight loss (hopefully I’ll be pregnant) but I will cheer you on! You can do it!

  2. I know you can do it. I also have put on a little extra since you saw me last. See you in June minus a few pounds.

  3. I need to lose about 15 pounds of left over pregnancy weight. Why does it have to be soooo hard? You really gave some excellent ideas!

  4. I know you can do it! Patrick has been doing really good working out after work and I do my best to get in my 20 minute video a few time a week but it should be interesting to see what happens after the baby comes along! Good Luck!

  5. I there with you! I actually STILL haven’t gotten to my pre-pg weight from the twins. :sigh: And they are 14 months now. But I WILL get to goal this year. I totally agree with planning. If you don’t plan, you just wing it and that’s NOT good. I’ll follow up with you and keep you accountable! You can do this!!
