hot dog recipe

Chili cheese hotdogs are a favorite summer time meal in our household, super quick to throw together (my kind of meal) and everyone eats them.  This is a fun take with baking them in the oven, a little more cooking time, but so worth it.

The buns get almost crusty, and the cheese and chili and condiments melt together perfectly.  I can imagine these on a camping trip, just wrap them individually in foil and place on the pit or fire.  Yum!!

Ingredients: 8 hotdogs (your favorite kind) , 8 hotdog buns, Mayo or Miracle Whip, mustard, relish, hotdog chili (canned or homemade hotdog chili), shredded colby or cheddar cheese, and diced onions, sweet little 5 year old helper hand (optional).

Coat the bun well with mayo or miracle whip, mustard and relish

Add hotdogs, chili and cheese and top with diced onions.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes until perfection.

Trust me, wait it out.

Serve with chips, pickles and coleslaw.

After you’ve eaten take that 5 year old helper hand for a sweet snuggle on the couch, after all I’m still his favorite!

Oven Baked Hot Dogs

Ingredients:

8 hotdogs
8 hotdog buns
Mayo or Miracle Whip
Mustard
Hotdog Chili (canned or homemade hotdog chili)
Cheddar Cheese
Onions, diced

Cover the inside of the buns with mayonnaise, sweet relish and mustard. Lots of mayonnaise or Miracle whip.

These bake for 45 minutes, and during that time the mayonnaise does something amazing to the bread.

Add the hot dogs, Chili, grated cheese and diced onions, and squish them together in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes.
