Jalapeno Margarita

I was browsing some recipes the other day and came across this one for Haberno Margarita’s. They instantly sparked my interest I have a deep love for all things margarita.  I had to try these, but using our garden jalapenos instead.

The flavor of the margarita’s were outstanding, a slight heat was present, but not overpowering, just makes you go hmmm?  What’s that, and really, really like it.  It would make a great conversation piece as everyone wonders what’s that special ingredient is in the margaritas.

They are very simple to make and of course I have pictures.

First off you have to infuse the tequila, do this about 1 week ahead of time.

1 bottle of 100% pure agave silver Tequila
4-5 Jalapeno peppers

Cut off the tops of each pepper, slice in half and remove the seeds.

Stuff them inside the bottle and let them hang out for about one week.

It’s that easy.

Once the tequila has sat and infused for a week, its time to use.

Gather up your ingredients for the margarita’s:

You will need : 2 oz jalapeno tequila
3 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
2 oz simple syrup

*note 1 oz equals 1 shot glass

First off to make the simple syrup, its really simple.

Take 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a small saucepan

bring to a boil

and make sure all the sugar has dissolved, take off heat and let cool.

While the simple syrup is cooling, juice your limes and oranges

and add both to the shaker

Then add the tequila

and simple syrup, add ice to the shaker, close the top, shake well.

Run a lime wedge along the rim of your glass to wet, then roll the rim in the salt.

Then pour into your glass.

Enjoy!

Jalapeno Margarita’s

Infuse the tequila (Do this one week ahead)

1 bottle of 100% pure agave silver Tequila
4-5 jalapeno peppers

Cut off the tops of each pepper and remove the seeds.
Stuff them inside the bottle and let them hang out for about one week.
It’s that easy.

Make your Margarita

2 oz jalapeno tequila
3 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
2 oz simple syrup

Make your simple syrup

1 cup water
1 cup sugar

Add to a sauce pan bring to a boil and mix until sugar is dissolved.  Cool.

Using fresh squeezed lime and orange juice is essential to making a good margarita! Forget anything you’ve ever heard about sweet and sour mix- that stuff is crap! Only fresh limes and oranges should ever be used!

Pour all ingredients in to a shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously to mix and chill.

Run a lime wedge along the rim of your glass to wet, then roll the rim in the salt.

Pour the margarita in the rimed glass, garnish with a lime wedge if you wish, and enjoy!
