Homemade Italian Bread

Nothing is better then some fresh semi-homemade bread baking in the kitchen.  I took the easy route and used my trusty bread maker, and you can certainly make this fully by hand.  This bread has the perfect blend of spices and chewy, crusty dough.  Great with Italian pasta dishes or soups.  I served this with Cheeseburger soup and it was very good.  It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a recipe and it feels really good to get one out there.

Layer in the ingredient per your bread maker instructions, mine is always wet ingredient on bottom.  Milk and butter first.

Then add in the flour, spices and yeast.

Turn your maker on and let it do it’s magic.

Remove and serve warm with herb butter.

Homemade Italian Bread

1 1/2 cups milk

2 T butter, softened

4 cups flour

1 packet yeast

1 1/2 tsp garlic

1/2 rosemary

1 1/2 tsp basil

1/2 tsp oregano

1/2 tsp salt

Measure ingredients in the order listed into baking pan for bread maker.  Select settings, I used basic and regualr crust settings.  Mine takes 3 1/2 hours from start to finish.  Serve with softened her butter.  To make butter softened a stick of butter and add in a sprinkle of garlic, oregano, salt, and rosemary. Mix well and serve on warm bread. Enjoy!
