We are in week three of the Food Network Chefs Cooking Challenge (FNCCC) hosted by I Blame my Mother and I am so loving it. Why you ask, because I am trying all these great recipes that I normally wouldn’t have tried before; Mini Shepard’s Pie, Baked Eggs and now a Pink Grapefruit Cocktail. Yes I choose a cocktail this time! Even a mom has let loose every now and then.
I wasn’t too sure how tart this cocktail would be since grapefruits can be pretty tart and this drink has no added sugar. But I was delightfully surprised at how smooth, simply sweet and slightly tart it was. This cocktail is for sure a keeper, in fact I am drinking one right now, shh don’t tell. Let alone super easy to make. Especially if you buy the grapefruit and lemon juice, but this round I went for it and squeezed my own juice (courtesy of my juicer). Let me show you how to make it.
Ingredients:3 1/2 ounces fresh pink grapefruit juice, plus grapefruit wedge for garnish, 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice, 1/2 ounce orange liqueur, 2 ounces vodka
Start off juicing your grapefruit
then add to your shaker
along with your lemon juice
orange liqueur
and vodka (trust me on this one, it will taste much better if you spring for a more expensive bottle of vodka)
shake well with crushed ice
Enjoy with a garnish of grapefruit wedge.
It’s just that simple, and let’s be honest you want an easy recipe, because you won’t stop at just one of these.
