Its been a few weeks since I have last posted about the our garden and most recently being super excited about planting Pumpkins, Butternut and Acorn squash. Well I, yes I planted, DT was out of town and I actually planted them. But the next day we got lots of rain and it rained solid for 3 days, and our squashes never grew. Ultimately I think I planted my squash to deep and they drowned. I was so sad, I had such high hopes for my squash, but now its too late to plant again, but I will next year! Good news though 2 pumpkins lived and are thriving. I am still keeping my hopes alive for them and I can’t wait to see how they will do.
This weekend DT will till the garden, make rows and plant our winter garden. He will plant cabbage, carrots, brussels sprouts, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, swiss chard, turnips and sweet potatoes.

We still have huge okra plants growing probably 8 feet tall.
After all the rain and slightly cooler weather our banana peppers are producing again.

As I was walking around our garden, I noticed our Satsuma tree is loaded, and they will be ready to eat around december.

and lemon tree
and the shallot onions are doing well!
Hopefully next week I will have all the details of our winter garden!

Wow, great work and success. I just planted my fall-winter garden in Arizona. We are trying a raised garden this year. The rabbits, squirrels and other critters are naughtly and eat everything.

I’m so envious! I wish I had a yard big enough for a vegetable garden. I guess I could if I ripped out all my roses but I can’t do that! I guess I made the choice of bouquets over veggies!!! I wish I could have both!!!

I love the pictures you S&T of your garden! I’m already longing for spring next year to till and plant again. We just harvesting our squash and the last of our cucumbers – then I will have to return to the grocery store produce section. Sigh.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Where are you in this world that you can plant wonderful vegetables this late in the season? I am jealous! I have a funny story about pumpkins-Several years ago, my husband decided to ‘compost’ our pumpkin in a small pile he created… months later.. it sprouted, and started to grow. We were amazed! We got like 3 or 4 great sized pumpkins on accident.
