New Computer

August 24, 2009

I desperately need a new computer.  I have a 2002 Dell laptop, it is so slow, it’s getting to be a hassle  just check my email.  Much less upload pictures, blog, and so on.

I got this computer from my parents after much begging and pleading shortly after I moved away to college.  In fact I remember writing them a letter of the 10 reasons I needed a laptop at college.  Wish I could find that letter because it worked and here I sit 7 years later using the very same laptop.  Thanks Mom & Dad.

So now its time to get a new desktop.  I really like Dell but would love to get a desktop with loads of memory, storage, and super fast, but really I have no clue.  Would love any suggestions.

I would honestly either hold out until Black Friday in November when you can get a great deal on one….or until January when the new Windows is supposed to come out. I am trying to do that with my desktop right now.

Hey, I had no idea what to recommend so I asked my expert IT guy aka my husband. He replied with alot of info of course so I will have to email it over to you. He did highly recommend that you wait till after Windows does the update so you don’t have to buy for the update or hassle with doing it yourself!

I love my Mac. I was afraid it would be too hard to adjust to, but it was no problem. I go back and forth between a PC at work and Mac at home without a thought.

All of our computers are Dells. Even with some problems, they are the most economical choice for us.

I love my Toshiba laptop. As for desktops, my Dell was a good one! :)

I’ve had 2 Toshiba laptops, which I abosutely loved. We actually have a Dell labtop now (my first Dell). We’ve had it a year, and I’m really impressed with it!

Good luck choosing! :)

You’re lucky yours lasted this long. I talked to a guy at Best Buy (having a perpetual issue with my HP laptop) and he said laptops are built to last 3-5 years tops.

I say buy an inexpensive one. HP is nice, but have issues. My daughter has a compaq and no issues yet, but it’s fairly new.

I say go on the cheap.

Check out the prices on Dell Outlet.

I have I friend that works and Dell and he said there is nothing wrong with these computers and actually owns a few refurbished computers. He said they are generally computers with small scratches on them or computers that people custom order and cancel the order. I am currently using one and have multiple friends that have them and have encountered no problems.

The Dell Vostro series is amazing. If you get them from Dell Small Business, they are pretty cheap, too. My partner and I purchased a pair of Vostro 200s on Black Friday for $800.

We both use our machines for graphics intensive purposes, and with some minor upgrades, these run with the best of them. I can’t recommend them enough.

I love Mac computers. We have both PCs and Macs and they’re both good for various functions, but I mostly work on my MAC laptop especially with pictures and such. The downside? I think they’re more expensive than PCs :(
