Remodel week 4

February 6, 2009

Progress, YES I said progress.  After a whole week off  the contractors were back to work this week, and though we’ve had some set backs we are coming along. I am being very positive about this, can you tell, no seriously very positive!!!

We special ordered tile and bull nosed tile for our bathtub and can you believe it was the wrong tile it wasn’t the bull nose we were suppose to have, but since its special order we  now have to pay a restocking and shipping fee.

So instead of ordering from that company again and waiting another 1 1/2 weeks for the wrong tile to come in we are going to the trusty ole Home Depot and Lowe’s.  And going to get the correct Bull nose tile.  For those of you lucky enough to not know what bull nosed tile is. It is basically tile corner pieces with curves to fit around windows and such. Here is a picture.  (No I didn’t order pink tile, lol)

We are also going to look for a pre- fab sink counter unit.  We initially wanted a custom build with granite countertop, but we have had one hell of a time finding someone to build it, so I think I have come to the point of lets just buy one, thats lots of cheaper and will be ready to install, soon!

So back to the contractors work

The boys closet was  primed and painted, but guess what? painted the WRONG COLOR (Ivoire- the hall and bathroom paint)!!!  It’s suppose to be blue. Meditative blue to certain! Luckily we have enough paint and this can be easily corrected.  Isn’t it a pretty color none the less?

The bathroom had textured walls, backer board installed in the bathtub (its what the tile is glued to and it’s waterproof), and tile flooring, yea!

and one hall wall was sheet rocked, they didn’t do this wall initally, but because it had some water damage they decided to go ahead with it.

So as you can see some major progress has happened, and we are hoping crossing our finger that by this time next week we will be planning to move back in!

I love Home Depot. They have what you need and there’s none of that nasty restocking fee. I’ve experienced THAT too! Thanks for sharing. Happy Show and Tell Friday!

Ugh! This looks like a tremendous project. I need a good case of mold myself to kick my rear-end to get my bathroom done too.

(Just kidding God! No mold please!)

Wow you are coming along !!! I know this is such a FUN time. I remember what it felt like to build our house and to pick all the colours and the look you wanted. ( as long as it was in the budget [0; )

I can’t wait to see what it will look like.

Love those tiles! And you’re right, it is a pretty color but is definitely different than blue. :)

Thanks for checking out my blog! That looks like a huge pain to deal with, but it’ll be awesome when it’s done. We just got a new light fixture this week for our master bathroom, but nothing that major!! (I’ll probably post a pic once the husband installs it.)

Well I certainly learned a lot like bull-nose tile. It is my goal this year to not to be so helpless or at least clueless in these matters so this was good and I will check your earlier posts also.
