Bathroom Remodel week 1

January 16, 2009

So as of last weekend we successfully moved into my parents.  We cleaned out the bedroom and bathroom and the construction began Monday.  The contractor torn the walls down, the tile off the floor, the tub, toilet, sink, all of it gone, now it looks like a big black hole.  Then they  cleaned the studs really good and now has dryers going to dry and clean all the mold and mildew.  By next Monday they will start putting in the sheet rock.

We have to go shopping this weekend for the new mirror, bathtub, sink, ceramic tile for the bath, and flooring.   My mom ordered our toilet she got a Toto she has them in her house and loves them, so I am very happy about that.  Everything else I have no idea what to get and what will match, etc.  But it will be fun, hopefully.

Here is our living room with all the contents of the boys bedroom moved into it.  We have eventually  moved the cribs to my parents house because the boys weren’t sleeping well in their pack in plays. Notice in the back of the room the Christmas tree, yes they are still up, ha!

I love remodels and makeovers. Of course I’m not having to live through one – I would probably feel differently then!

WOW!! What a lot to go through. Such a huge project. It will be fun to have it all remodeled though.. right?

And what’s wrong with having your Christmas tree still up? I didn’t think we had to take those down until February.

You have a lot of work ahead of you. It will be very satisfying to have it done. We remodeled our entire house (took 4 years). It’s good that you are living some place else!

Wow, I cannot imagine how difficult it has had to be to pack everyone up & move in with someone else when you have young kiddos.
+ thoughts for you that the remodel finishes quickly so that you can move back into your house soon!

How fun it will be to go shopping and make it all your own! Make sure you remember to wipe OFF the grout in a timely manner. My niece didn’t and all the grout covered all the new tiles. They are Trying again this weekend )0:
I think it had to do withmen not liking to read all the directions because ” they know what they are doing!” famous last words.

Cant wait to see what you choose.

I remember the icky that was in that closet. I’m hoping that the rest of this makeover will go quickly for you guys. It’s hard being without a room (or bathroom) you need. Can’t wait to see it when it’s all done :0)

I was going to start by saying “Wow”, but I see so many other did, so I won’t start my comment with that. Wow, how did you find the mold in the first place? That really sucks.

Good Luck, hope you get home soon.

Remodeling is so much work, but it looks like you are off to a good start. Our plumber highly recommends TOTO toilets so we got one & it is AWESOME (as far as toilets go anyw)! Good luck with your project!!
